Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 October 2026

Port Macquarie Performing Arts (PMPA), ABN 55 167 282 028, cares about your family's privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we look after it. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.

What we collect

When you enquire or book a free trial, we collect your name, phone number, email address and any message you send us.

When you enrol, we collect:

  • your child's name and date of birth
  • parent or guardian names and contact details
  • the classes your child is enrolled in
  • your child's medical details
  • emergency contact details

Medical details are sensitive information. We only collect them with your consent, and only so we can keep your child safe in class.

We also take photos and videos of students in classes, rehearsals and performances.

If you take our online readiness quiz, we collect your answers, such as how your child settles in new places, whether they can skip yet and your main worry about starting dance, along with the contact details you give us.

How we collect it

We collect information directly from you: through our website forms, our parent portal, by phone, by email, by text message and in person at the studio. If you give us information about someone else, such as an emergency contact, please let them know.

Why we use it

We use your information to:

  • answer enquiries and book trial classes
  • enrol students and manage classes, fees and attendance
  • care for your child's health and safety, including in an emergency
  • enter students in exams, eisteddfods and performances
  • send you updates about classes, events and performances
  • share and celebrate our students' work on our website and social media
  • improve our website and our programmes

We will only send you marketing by email or text with your consent. Every marketing message tells you how to unsubscribe.

Photos and videos

We share photos and videos of students on our website, social media and promotional material. If you'd prefer your child not to appear, email [email protected] and we'll make sure they don't.

Who we share it with

We only share your information when we need to:

  • with PMPA teachers and staff who need it to teach and care for your child
  • with service providers who run our website, enquiry forms, text messages, parent portal and accounts
  • with exam bodies, eisteddfods and event organisers when your child is entered
  • with emergency services, if your child needs urgent care
  • when the law requires it

We never sell your personal information.

Some of our service providers store information on servers overseas, including in the United States. We choose providers that protect personal information to a standard similar to Australian law.

Our website

Our website uses cookies and tools such as the Meta (Facebook) pixel to understand how people use the site and to show relevant ads. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Our website forms, chat and booking tools are run by third-party platforms on our behalf.

Automated decisions

Our readiness quiz automatically suggests a result, such as "Quiet Achiever", based on your answers. It gives tips only. It doesn't decide whether your child can trial, enrol or take part in anything. We don't use computer programs to make decisions that significantly affect you or your child.

How we keep it safe

We store information in secure online systems with access limited to the people who need it. We keep information only as long as we need it or as the law requires, then delete or destroy it securely. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we'll tell you and anyone else the law requires.

Seeing or correcting your information

You can ask to see the information we hold about you or your child, or ask us to correct it. Email [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days.

Questions or complaints

If you have a question or concern about your privacy, email [email protected] or call 02 6583 3753. We'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
